The Ist XI were at home to Marlborough in a top of the table clash. After the recent rain it was a good toss for Josh to win and insert Marlborough. At tea with Marlborough 217-5 the feeling was that they could have easily scored more as three of the final overs had gone for over 40 runs! Winsley won by just 2 wickets in an exciting match with 4 overs remaining. All the batsmen contributed with, man of the match, JNG leading the way with 60 (120fps) in 52 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. Freddie Richards 37 (67 fps) and Stuart McCollum a lively 28 off 23 balls were also important contributors. The win puts Winsley a slender 11 points clear of both Marlborough and Malmesbury at the top of division 1.
The 2nds played the reciprocal fixture on the edge of Savernake forest. Marlborough batted and reached 192-4. A competitive score on a slowish wicket. Ben Strange 2-38 and Qayoum Abdul 2-44 were the wicket takers. In reply, there were many solid performance with only Ben Strange going on to a fifty 53 (108 fps). Winsley were eventually bowled out first 164 in the 45th over and a disappointing loss by 28 runs.
Southwick Oval hosted the 3rd XI fixture v Marshfield. Batting first a score of 115 all out in 42 overs was never going to be enough although Marshfield rather crept over the line at 116-7. Man of the match was Wayne Griffiths with figures of 9-4-15-3 (62 fps) with Bella Tweddle having a good all round performance 1-27, a catch and a run out (51 fps).
The 4th XI visited Spye Park. Spye Park is a historic country estate that was established as a hunting ground in the 16th century. There have been many grand houses on the site but the last was destroyed by fire in the 1970s and demolished completely. The famous arch at Bowden Hill is all that remains.

The cricket ground with its’ thatch pavilion sits about 250 metres from the site of the original house. Most recently the grounds have been purchased by the South African family Enthoven that also own Nandos! The 9 men of the 4th XI put up a spirited display against Spye scoring 155-6 in their 40 overs but eventually losing out by 8 wickets. Man of the match was Mark Matthews with 2-22 and 9* (49fps).
