Winning start against Woking and Horsell

It was a good toss to lose today in chilly conditions. We got off to a fabulous start with Christian taking two wickets in two balls; the first was a brilliant running catch by Jacob and the second, the opposing coach called the delivery an absolute jaffer to leave Woking and Horsell 0-2. Christian did not concede a run in his two overs. Leo bowled with extreme pace early on which was great so see. Eddie and Amelia came on first change and both kept up the pressure with Eddie finishing with 3 wickets and Amelia bowling a great line and length with one wicket- a stunning 1-handed catch by Adam, who also took two in two. Jacob, Samuel and Ben all bowled tightly keeping the runs down as did Oliver who wasn’t feeling 100% but still took a wicket. Raees fielded well throughout the game at third man, a tough position in cold conditions. We limited Woking and Horsell to 103 all out. Sophie kept really well in testing conditions to some very quick bowling. Adam and Christian got us off to a good start, before Christian fell for 16 to a questionable appeal with the score on 22. Ben and Adam put on a nice partnership with some lusty blows before Eddie and Leo put on 30. Eddie retired on 31 with a captain’s knock and player of the match performance with Sophie and Oliver bringing us home to win by 6 wickets. Sophie finished on 11 not out and Oliver 1 not out rotating the strike nicely. A great start to the season everyone, and an all round team performance. Howard
