Girls Under 11 Horsley & Send CC 104 / 3 (16) 1 pts
Under 11 Girls Smash IT Leatherhead Cricket Club 122 / 0 (16) 4 pts

🏏 TRIPLE THREAT! Leatherhead Pull Off SmashIT Spectacle 🏏

The U11 Girls served up another absolute cracker in their latest SmashIT outing — a match packed with drama, energy, biscuits, boundaries, and a team hat‑trick that would make even the most seasoned pros raise an eyebrow.

The Drama Begins at the Toss

Skipper Elsie strode out with the confidence of someone who’s been practising leadership in the mirror. After a tense, drawn‑out, high‑stakes game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, she secured a famous victory at the toss. With rain lurking on the horizon, she wisely chose to field first.

A strong start — and the drama hadn’t even begun.

Energy, Antics, and an Amazing Team Hat‑Trick

From ball one, the Leatherhead energy was electric. The outfield was alive with chants of “wicket time!” and “wickets are on the menu!” Meanwhile, our hosts added their own theatrical flair, celebrating boundaries with forward rolls. (10/10 for commitment.)

Despite some beautifully accurate bowling, the wickets were stubborn early on — possibly due to the hosts using industrial‑strength, extra‑heavy bails. But cricket has a funny way of turning quickly.

And turn it did.

Charlotte produced an over for the ages:

  • Bowled

  • Run‑out

  • Bowled again

Three wickets in three balls — a spectacular team hat‑trick that flipped the game on its head. The celebrations were suitably wild.

A special mention goes to Imogen, whose wonderfully accurate spell kept the pressure simmering throughout.

The fielding was top‑drawer too: swooping stops, sharp backing‑up, and a real sense of togetherness across the park.

Fueled by Oreos

Before the chase, the girls gathered for the all‑important biscuit break. Today’s weapon of choice: Oreos.

They disappeared at a speed that suggested the team had been lost in the wilderness for several days. Fully fuelled and buzzing, the girls headed out to bat.

A Flawless Batting Display

What followed was some of the most mature, composed batting we’ve seen this season.

Every pair communicated brilliantly, rotating singles with sharp calls and peppering the boundary when the bowlers dared stray. It was especially pleasing to see so many shots played into the “other side of the field” — proper cricketing awareness.

Huge credit to Harriet, Mia, and Elena, who all played beautifully in the “V”, showing real technique and discipline.

And the stat of the day? Not. A. Single. Wicket. Lost.

They defended the good ones, punished the bad ones, and looked increasingly confident with every over.

With the scores tight heading into the final pair, Zadie and Emilia walked out calmly and clinically finished the job — a couple of late boundaries, some smart running, and the win was sealed.

Awards of the Match

Our hosts selected two very deserving winners:

  • Bowler of the Match: Elena — for an economical, composed spell

  • Batter of the Match: Mia — for a lovely range of shots and smart decision‑making

A Fantastic Team Win

From leadership at the toss, to the energy in the field, to the flawless batting — this was a superb all‑round performance. The girls are growing every week, and today’s display was a brilliant example of teamwork, spirit, and skill.

Well played, everyone. This one was a joy.
