Result: Bourton Vale 3rd XI won by 2 wickets
Bourton Vale 3rd XI won the toss and elected to field. With five players under the age of 15, the youthful side was guided by experienced hands, creating a well-balanced XI eager to secure their first win of the season.
Bourton Vale’s bowlers delivered an exceptional collective performance to restrict Bream to just 135. Leg-spinner Harry Rollinson (2/30 off 6) and Dan John—who claimed his first senior wicket—led the youth charge, while seasoned duo Ryan Newhook (3/4 off 8) and Tom Arkell (3/16) dismantled the middle and lower order with clinical precision.
Behind the stumps, stand-in keeper Phil Colmer had a day to remember, taking four sharp catches, providing the perfect support for the bowling unit.
The chase began nervously with Phil Colmer edging behind early, followed shortly by Rabbani, leaving Bourton wobbling at 30/2. But a vital 56-run partnership between Tom Arkell and Barney Newhook steadied the innings, mixing calm strokeplay with smart running.
Arkell led from the front, anchoring the chase with a composed 65, before falling with 26 still needed. Enter Wayne Rose, who injected momentum at a crucial stage, blasting 25 off just 23 balls, including two towering sixes, before being dismissed with just 5 runs required.
The experienced Ryan Newhook and young Dan John held their nerve, ticking off the remaining runs and sealing Bourton Vale’s first win of the season.
